We evaluated the existing Investment legal framework to determine the extent to which it obstructed foreign direct investment. The execution of the project was carried out in such a way as to address the key concerns expressed by investors. The basis of our diagnostic served to determine the objectives and priorities in the development of the new comprehensive competition policy.
Investment climate and competitiveness (Nicaragua)
In our diagnostic we evaluated Nicaragua’s current international competitiveness position, analyzed the competition conditions of the economy, identified the measures and regulations that created entry barriers and other market distortions for domestic and foreign firms, identified non-competitive market structures, reviewed the legal and institutional policy framework, assessed the national competition authority’s capabilities; its material infrastructure, policy and enforcement practices, and human resources practices. The diagnostic we presented provided a set of specific, action oriented recommendations for both policy, legal and institutional reforms, as well as recommendations for follow up actions and implementation.
